7 Things to Accomplish at SXSW 2017

I received a grant earlier this year that will allow me to travel to the annual SXSW Interactive conference in just a week. While I’ve been researching for a month in my best attempt to find the BEST panels, talks, events, and happy hours I figured perhaps I should have some very basic & simple goals as well.

When I first threw myself into the hours of researching and scheduling this trip I quickly became overwhelmed. This conference is HUGE. There’s literally 5 different things I want to be doing at any given time. Since then I’ve resolved that there’s no possible way I can do and see everything — so embracing a more relaxed view is necessary.

Aside from eating breakfast tacos and trying a new coffee place every morning here are some of the more basic things I hope to accomplish.

  1. Meet new people that are passionate about the technology field
  2. Try some VR
  3. Attend at least 2–3 keynotes and panels a day
  4. Take notes / Post daily recaps here
  5. Find some panels that don’t directly relate to what I do currently or what I want to do in the future
  6. See some live music in the evenings
  7. Come home with inspired ideas

If anyone has any tips for me I’m open to any and all suggestions (hint: where is best BBQ?)
